Never Get Around to Editing? Let Insta360 Moments Do It for You

Never Get Around to Editing? Let Insta360 Moments Do It for You

Insta360 Moments: Less Editing, More Memories

“I’ll just choose the best shots and edit a video.” It sounds like a plan for the evening — until you open your footage folder. After all, you brought your camera to capture memories, not to add another task to your to-do list.

Insta360+ Moments helps turn content stored in the cloud into finished videos of your favourite memories. It automatically selects clips, adds music and transitions, and makes the result available in the app. Instead of starting by browsing files, you can start by watching your video.

How does Insta360 Moments work?

It starts with your Insta360+ cloud album, where you sync your footage. Moments works with the content stored there — not files kept only on your memory card or computer. There’s no need to hand-pick every shot before the edit begins.

According to the documentation, the AI analysis includes identifying themes, selecting clips and assembling scenes. That makes the cloud more than a place to store files: it helps you rediscover what you’ve captured.

The key difference

You’re not starting with an empty timeline. You’re starting with footage you already have — and giving it a chance to make it back onto the screen.

Don’t wait for a special occasion

Picture a video of your cycling season that captures more than just the descents: getting ready for a ride, a stop at a small shop and a chat with the group at the end of the trail. Or a holiday video where the real highlight isn’t the famous viewpoint, but the reaction of the person standing beside you.

That’s why we encourage you to record the moments between the main events, too. Setting off on a trip, packing your gear, having breakfast together or heading home can give your finished video a more personal feel. Not everything has to look like the trailer for an action sports film.

Our advice: start with one experience you genuinely want to relive. Not necessarily your most spectacular footage, but the clips that mean something to you. That makes it easier to judge whether the automatic edit captures what you want to remember.

Moments, Auto Edit or Moments Pro?

Moments is useful when your footage is in the cloud, but you don’t want to search through it yourself to find clips for a video. It automatically turns content from your library into videos, helping you revisit the moments you’ve captured without building an edit from scratch.

Choose Auto Edit when you know which clips you want in your video. With Auto Edit 2.0, you select one or more recordings, and AI handles reframing, virtual camera movements, cuts, music and transitions. You choose the footage the edit starts with.

Moments Pro gives you more control over the feel of your finished video. Set the theme, mood, style and length of the edit created from your uploaded footage. Instead of selecting every shot, you set the direction of the story.

Good to know: Moments Pro requires a separate subscription

Under the terms of service, Moments Pro requires an active Insta360+ cloud album and an additional subscription. When you activate Moments Pro for the first time, you can use a three-month trial, available once per account.

At the end of the trial, the subscription renews as a paid plan unless you cancel beforehand. Check the price and renewal terms before activating it.

How to get started with Moments

  1. Check availability on your account. Update the Insta360 app and check your access to Insta360+, compatibility with your camera model and the Moments options available to you. Under the Insta360+ terms, cloud availability depends on your account’s region.
  2. Set up your cloud album. Provided the service is available, choose a suitable plan, review the terms and sync your footage. Your recordings need to be in the cloud — saving them on your camera alone isn’t enough.
  3. Enable the feature and review the result. Read and accept the required data-processing terms to start using the feature. In Moments Pro, set your video preferences. Watch the finished edit in the app and decide whether to save or share it.

For your first try, choose a time when you don’t need the finished video immediately. Uploading and processing your footage are separate steps — automatic cloud editing doesn’t mean the result will be ready as soon as you stop recording.

Your footage, your decision

When you enable Moments, your photos, videos and associated metadata — such as capture time, location and device model — are analysed. Your content may also be shared with AI service providers to deliver the feature. Under the Moments terms of service, your cloud content is not used to train models.

You decide whether to use this feature. You can switch it off in the app under Me > Settings > Moments.

Before you share your video

The Moments terms allow generated content to be used for personal, educational or research purposes and exclude commercial use. This means you should not use a finished video in advertising or paid partnerships. See section 3(c) of the terms of service for details.

AI can help. You have the final say

Treat an automatic edit as a suggestion, not a flawless selection of your most important moments. Before sharing, watch the whole video. Does it feature the right people? Is there anything private you would rather keep to yourself? Does it tell the story you want to remember?

When you want to fine-tune a video yourself, turn to Insta360 Studio. It’s our free editing tool for Mac and Windows, where you can combine clips and reframe footage using keyframes, among other features. Rather than leaving the choices to an algorithm, you decide how each part of the edit comes together.

Your memories don’t have to wait

Moments helps turn cloud footage into videos of your memories without having to select every clip yourself. That makes it easier to return to the people, places and emotions you want to remember — instead of putting the edit off until another free weekend.

Explore Moments on your account and start with one story. Watch the result, make up your own mind and decide what’s worth sharing. After all, what matters isn’t how many files you’ve saved, but which memories you actually revisit.
